Aku mengucek-ucek mata.

Exquisite ! Hanum has brought us with her excursion that might be called a spiritual journey to get acquaintance deeply with her own belief/Islam. Her excursion has made her and us the reader to fall in love again with Islam in a very gracious way of becoming an agent of change. The change that could transform the stigma of Islam by just smiling could alleviate the current islamophobia. Really enjoyed this book. What impressed me most was the authors albeit young they have shown maturity in the writing style - especially the main author, Ms Rais. The storyline reminds me of first years of me and group of friends tried to settling in Europe and to make sense our existence with religious duty. Despite the obstacles and hardships we found noor of Islam in the land of Kuffar, the same thing happened with the author. The book befits well with the Indonesian devout audience, using a perfect formula: Journey to the dreamland-indulge readers with medieval sentiment of suggested evidences of Islamic golden era-ended in a culmination of hajj journey. The author stated of her goal to write entertaining travel/adventure book with a nod to the divinity, and i think she has been successful.

I bought this book when I was on a trip to Bandung in 2012. The book was only bestseller rack and I though the title was quite catchy. Perhaps maybe because I was looking for something islami but not too formal. So I guess I make the right choice then. Halfway reading the book, I felt sudden rush to travel the world but this time by looking it from islamic perspective. I thought it would be great to walk down the history and get inspired from that. 99 Cahaya di Langit Eropa tell us about Islam. I really enjoy the story about Hanum and Rangga’s trip in Europe. Europe isn’t about Eiffel Tower, Colleseum, San Siro Stadium, Gondola in Venezia, Berlin Wall, Mozart, and much more. From this book I found the secrets of Islam that closed. From this book I knew that Europe save a million mysteries about Islam.

I love the writing style, easy to read and to understand but it also has knowledge for the readers. It was a good reference during my recent EuroTrip especially I visited some places in common such as Cordoba, Granada and Paris. It gave me a glimpse of places I would visit.
